I am a rising junior at the University of Central Florida majoring in Computational Mathematics and minoring in Cognitive Science. I am currently working under Dr. Gong and Muhammadabdullah Jamal on Attribute-Based Classification. The goal of our research is to shift the focus of classification from labeling to describing. By developing deep neural networks that utilize multitask learning to determine the attributes of an object, we can then attempt to classify the object from this information. The unique benefits of this approach include the possibility of classifying objects the neural network has never seen before as well as being able to provide valuable information about an object even if we cannot classify it.
