I am Kevin Duarte, a senior at the University of Central Florida. Currently, I am a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics. After I receive my degree, I plan on going to graduate school for Computer Science and research machine learning and computer vision. This summer, I am working with Dr. Boqing Gong and Yang Zhang on image compression using deep learning. Through the use of convolutional neural networks, specifically convolutional autoencoders, we can reduce the amount of data needed to represent a digital image, which reduces the amount of space needed to store an image.
